Frequently Asked Questions
The things guests usually want to know before they book, from where we are to what you can expect once you arrive.
Where exactly is Saffron House, and how far is it from the airport and the city?
We are at 22 Balers Way in Sunset Beach, a quiet residential suburb on the coast just past Milnerton. Cape Town International Airport, the city centre, the Waterfront, Green Point stadium and Century City are all around 20 minutes away by car, and Bloubergstrand is about 10 minutes up the coast.
What kinds of rooms do you have?
There are 13 en-suite bedrooms in total. Standard rooms are our simplest option, and the downstairs ones each have their own outside area. Large rooms come with a balcony. Family rooms suit a couple with one or more children and have a small kitchenette. There is also a self-contained cottage with a kitchenette, a sofa, a table and its own outdoor space.
Is breakfast available, and can we eat here in the evening?
Breakfast is served in our breakfast room, which looks out over the pool. Lunch and dinner are available on request, so let us know in advance if you would like us to cook. There is also a lapa with braai facilities if you would rather cook for yourselves, and the family rooms and the cottage have small kitchenettes.
Can a group or a sports team book the whole guest house?
Yes. We regularly host sports teams, school and university groups, business meetings and private functions, and larger groups do sometimes take the whole guest house. There is a presentation room for team sessions, a dining room for group meals, and a lapa and pool for the time in between. Send us your dates and group size and we will work out what fits.
Is there parking, and is it secure?
There is ample safe parking on the property, with room for several vehicles. Guests arriving in more than one car, which is often the case with teams and family groups, are usually fine, but tell us how many vehicles you are bringing when you book so we can plan for it.
What is in the rooms?
Every bedroom is en-suite, with quality linen and towels, DStv, a tea and coffee station and free Wi-Fi. Hair dryers are available on request. We also have an in-house laundry service if you are staying a while or arriving off a long trip.
What is there to do close by?
Sunset Beach is known for kite surfing, with reliable wind through summer, and there is a golf course almost on our doorstep. Bloubergstrand and its view of Table Mountain across the bay is about 10 minutes away, the Durbanville wine farms around 25 minutes inland, and Canal Walk at Century City about 20 minutes. The Waterfront, Table Mountain and the city centre are all an easy drive.
What can guests use around the house?
The swimming pool, the lapa with braai facilities, the fire pit, the outdoor seating, the lounge, the dining room and the pool room are all there for guests to use.
